Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has issued a stern warning to traditional rulers and their institutions against conniving with criminal elements, warning that such actions undermine peace and security in the state.
The Governor gave the warning while receiving the Emir of Duguri, Alhaji Adamu Muhammadu, at his hometown residence in Yelwan Duguri.
He stressed the critical role of traditional rulers in intelligence gathering, early warning systems and community policing, noting that their cooperation is indispensable to sustaining peace at the grassroots.
Governor Mohammed commended the people of Duguri and neighbouring communities for maintaining peaceful coexistence, describing the area as a symbol of unity, tolerance and communal harmony.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property across Bauchi State, adding that lasting security can only be achieved through strong collaboration among government, traditional institutions and the general public.
The Governor also urged residents to embrace agriculture as a means of economic empowerment, assuring them of continued government support through the provision of improved farm inputs and other agricultural incentives aimed at boosting productivity and livelihoods.
In his remarks, the Emir of Duguri, Alhaji Adamu Muhammadu, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the warm reception and pledged the continued support of the traditional institution toward the promotion of peace, security and development in the state.
The Emir explained that the visit was also to welcome the Governor home and to celebrate with him as he reconnected with family members and friends.
