Late Kadai Zanna Foundation Awards Scholarships To Students From Gubio LGA

On Sunday the 4th February 2024, The late Kadai Zanna Gubio Foundation organized the disbursement of school fees to tertiary institution students who are indigenes of Gubio Local Government Area. The distribution covers items to Islamiya School too.

In her remark, the chairperson of the foundation Dr. Fatima Bukar Bababe thanked the guests for attending the important occasion in the memory of their late Father Mal. Kadai Zanna Gubio.

She stated that, the main objective of the foundation is to support the less privileged students of tertiary institutions indigenous to Gubio local government area.

She further added that, 50 students benefited from the foundation. 9 of whom were from the University of Maiduguri received N50 thousand cash, 16 students from the College of Health Technology received N50,000 cash, 3 students from Bosu received N40,000 cash, and 22 students from Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri also received N30,000 cash. While, 5 Islamiya schools from Gubio LGA received support from the foundation with each of the schools receiving N20,000 cash, 20 kettles and 5 mats respectively.

Mali Bulama Mali Gubio, Chairman of the Gubio local government, affirmed his administration’s commitment to taking out-of-school children off the streets, pledging collaboration with the foundation to achieve this goal.

Distinguished personalities at the event comprised Prof. Ibrahim Umara, who delivered the keynote address; Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan represented by Hon. Chiroma Usman , as the Special Guest of Honor; and Dr. Bulama Mali Gubio mni, Chairman of the Borno State Civil Service Commission, serving as the Chairman of the occasion.

While reading the citation of his grandfather the ES of Borno Geographic Information Service Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe said that, the Late Kadai Zanna Gubio was a philanthropist, educationist, and an administrator/excellence. He called on the beneficiaries to build on his legacy.

Born on July 16, 1935, and passing away in 2001, Kadai Zanna Gubio, a Kanuri from Gubio town, Borno State, left a legacy.

Among his seven children and grandchildren are notable figures in various fields, including Hajiya Fatima B. Bababe, Chairperson of the Foundation, and his grandson, the Executive Secretary of Borno State Geographic Information Services (BOGIS), Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe, who was honored with reading the citation of the late Kadai Zanna Gubio.

Also among his children and grandchildren were the late Engr. Modu Kadai Gubio, former G.M. of the State Water Board; late Mohammed Kadai Gubio from the Nigerian Television Authority; Hajiya Yagana Kadai from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Maiduguri; Mall. Babagana Kadai, Permanent Secretary in the Borno State Ministry of Health; Hajiya Yaruwaiya Kadai from the P.H.C. Department in Jere Local Government; and Hajiya Falmata Kadai from the Treasury Department at M.M.C.

Additionally, Alhaji Abubakar Kadai Zannah, who works with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Abuja, and pharmacist Abdulqadir B. Bababe with the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Maiduguri.
