The Legislative Council of Shira Local Government in Bauchi State has removed the Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Beli, and his Deputy, Hon. Usman Adamu, over alleged financial mismanagement and failure to cooperate with the council.
Council Leader, Wali Adamu, who is expected to assume office as Chairman, announced the decision at the Bauchi State Legislative Council premises while addressing journalists.
He said the removal of the officials was necessary to uphold transparency and accountability in the administration of Shira Local Government.
According to an official statement issued by the council on Monday, a committee was set up to investigate allegations of gross misconduct, financial mismanagement, failure to perform duties, and abuse of office against the chairman and his deputy.
The statement read in part:
“The committee has submitted its report, which has been reviewed by the council, and it has found both officials guilty of the allegations made against them. Therefore, the council hereby removes Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Beli as Chairman and Hon. Usman Adamu as Deputy Chairman of Shira Local Government, effective immediately.”
The council further stated that the investigation established that the removed officials engaged in financial mismanagement, failed to perform their duties, and breached the trust placed in them.
It added that the offices of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman had been declared vacant, pending further directives.
