Police Arrest Robbery, Theft Suspects, Recover Stolen Items In Taraba

The Taraba State Police Command says it has recorded major breakthroughs in the fight against crime with the arrest of suspects linked to armed robbery, criminal conspiracy and breach of trust, as well as the recovery of stolen property.

This is contained in a statement issued on May 1 in Jalingo by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah.

In the first case, the command said four suspects were arrested in connection with an armed robbery incident reported on Nov. 16, 2025.

It said the victim, Alhaji Hamishu Abubakar Sambo, reported that armed men invaded his residence and carted away a Honda Accord vehicle, television set, mobile phones and cash.

According to the police, detectives attached to the State Intelligence Department swung into action, leading to the arrest of Aminu Abubakar Abi, Aliyu Salmanu, Aliyu Abubakar and Daniel Boniface.

Items recovered from the suspects include cutlasses, touch lights, a 42-inch television and a smartphone.

In another development, the command said it arrested three suspects over alleged criminal breach of trust involving the theft of a tricycle.

It said the case was reported on March 23, 2026, after the owner entrusted the vehicle to one Shamsudden Muhammad, who allegedly transferred it to a third party without consent.

Police operatives tracked the suspects to Hulleri Village in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where they were arrested and the stolen tricycle recovered.

The suspects were identified as Ishaq Umar, Ibrahim Saidu and Adamu Usman.

Similarly, the command said it arrested two suspects over an armed robbery attack along the Takum–Wukari Road on April 26, 2026.

The suspects, Jibrin Idrisu and Dahiru Ya’u Dopta, were alleged to have attacked two victims and robbed them of a motorcycle, cash and a mobile phone.

Police said the suspects were apprehended following a swift investigation, while the stolen motorcycle was recovered.

The command added that investigations into all the cases were ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion.

It reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
