A violent clash between rival groups of hoodlums, known as Kalare boys, in the Bolari area of Gombe State has left at least three people dead. The incident occurred on Tuesday amidst rising tensions in the area.
Muhammad Bello, Commandant of the Gombe State sector of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), confirmed the killings during a press briefing on Wednesday.
He clarified that the violence was unrelated to the forthcoming protest, but rather a result of internal disputes among the Kalare boys.
The NSCDC has deployed 600 officers across the state to maintain security and protect assets. Bello emphasized the importance of cooperation among security agencies and assured that anyone requesting security cover would receive it.
Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Usman, acknowledged reports of the incident but could not confirm the fatalities. Investigations are ongoing, with several individuals assisting authorities in identifying those involved.
