Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, traveled to Damaturu, capital of Yobe State, on Wednesday where he condoled with Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni, over the death of former governor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim.
Governor Zulum also attended a prayer session organized for the repose of the soul of late Bukar Abba at the Government House in Damaturu.
The prayer session was attended by the former governors of Borno, Ali Modu Sheriff and Maina Ma’aji Lawan, Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elakanemi, Emir of Damaturu, Shehu Hashimi II El Kanemi, and other emirs across Yobe State.
Before leaving Damaturu, Zulum visited the family home of the late Bukar Abba Ibrahim and expressed sympathy to his family.
Zulum expressed deep shock at the passing of Alhaji Bukar Abba Ibrahim who served as the Governor of Yobe State from January 1992 to November 1993 and later from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007.
He said, “Late Bukar Abba’s contribution to the progress and development of Nigeria cannot be overstated. However, Allah loves him more than us. May Almighty Allah admit him into Jannat ul Firdaus.
“I received the news of his demise with deep shock. I sympathize with his family, I sympathize with the Government of Yobe State, as well as that of Borno State and the entire Nigeria,” Zulum added.
The late Bukar Abba Ibrahim served as a commissioner and held multiple positions in the then-old Borno civil service from 1985 to 1988 before the creation of Yobe State.
