Maiduguri to Experience Four-Day Power Outage for Plant Maintenance

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has announced a four-day power outage in Maiduguri and surrounding areas to allow for scheduled maintenance work at the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant (MEPP).

In a statement issued on Monday, the company said the outage would last from Tuesday, November 4, to Friday, November 7, during which power supply would be cut daily between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

According to YEDC, the shutdown will enable the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to conduct the third semi-annual inspection on the gas turbine as part of the ongoing Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA).

The company explained that the maintenance exercise was essential to ensure optimal performance of the power facility and enhance service reliability in the region.

“During this period, Maiduguri and its surrounding areas will be out of supply. We sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding of our valued customers as we carry out this vital maintenance to improve power delivery,” the statement added.

YEDC urged residents to plan ahead for the outage and assured that power would be fully restored upon completion of the inspection.

The company reiterated its commitment to providing efficient and sustainable electricity services across its coverage areas in the North East.
