SSANU, ICPC Seek Partnership with NEDC in Adamawa

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Modibbo Adama University (MAU) branch of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) have sought a partnership with the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to strengthen transparency and development efforts in Adamawa State.

The visit, held at the NEDC State Office in Yola, was led by the Adamawa and Taraba State Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner of the ICPC, Mr. Okoro Ulu James, and the Chairman of SSANU, MAU Chapter, Comrade Michael Omokoro.

Mr. James commended the NEDC for its developmental interventions across Adamawa and the wider North-East, noting that such initiatives have contributed significantly to rebuilding the region after years of insurgency.

He emphasised the need for collaboration between government institutions to ensure accountability and proper utilisation of public resources.

“The ICPC is ready to support the NEDC in ensuring that all its projects are executed with integrity and free from corruption and misuse,” James stated.

In his remarks, Comrade Omokoro praised the NEDC’s contributions to educational development, particularly its support for tertiary institutions in the state. He expressed SSANU’s readiness to partner with the Commission on programmes that promote academic advancement and institutional growth.

Responding, the NEDC State Coordinator, Barr. Khalifa M. Lawan, appreciated the visit and assured the delegations of the Commission’s continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

He noted that partnerships with institutions like ICPC and SSANU are vital to sustaining the Commission’s mandate of fostering peace, development, and economic recovery in the North-East region.
