Adamawa Police Arrest Suspected Human Trafficker, Rescue Two Female Victims

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected human trafficker and rescued two female victims in Yola, the state capital.

According to a statement obtained on Friday, the operatives of the State Intelligence Department acted on information that led to the arrest of 40-year-old Hamza Hammantukur Isa, a resident of Bauchi Street in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, on November 12, 2025.

The Police stated that the suspect allegedly specializes in trafficking young girls from Adamawa State to the Republic of Ghana for sexual exploitation, luring them with promises of well-paying jobs.

Two female victims, aged 18 and 19, were rescued unharmed during the operation.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Isa has been involved in human trafficking since 2023. He reportedly confessed to having trafficked 10 young girls in collaboration with two female accomplices who are currently at large. Police said efforts are ongoing to trace the accomplices for further investigation, prosecution, and possible rescue of additional victims.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s image maker, quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Dakombo Morris, as commending the officers of the State Intelligence Department for their timely intervention. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting the lives of all residents.

The operation underscores the Adamawa Police Command’s determination to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable persons from exploitation.
