The three daughters of the late Karma Mathias, a former staff of the Nigerian Prisons Service (now Nigerian Correctional Service) from Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State, have raised alarm over an impending eviction from their family home in Lafia.
Mathias, who was kidnapped along the Takum–Katsina-Ala road in June 2015, has remained missing ever since and was subsequently declared dead. His children said life had been difficult following the incident, but recent developments had worsened their situation.
One of the daughters, Miss Tinyang Blessing Mathias, came into public attention two years ago after a viral video showed her allegedly being stripped naked by a professor in Lafia.
Speaking to journalists, the family said their ordeal had taken a new turn after officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), accompanied by some men, arrived at their home with a court order directing them to vacate the property within one week.
According to them, the house—built by their late father—was allegedly sold without their consent by an uncle to one Mr. Mike Galadima in Lafia.
They said they were shocked to learn of the purported sale, insisting that the property remained their only inheritance and safe haven since their father’s disappearance.
“We had no knowledge that the house was sold. We were never contacted or consulted. This is the only place we know as home,” the family said.
The daughters appealed to the public, human rights organisations, traditional institutions, and relevant authorities to intervene in order to prevent their eviction and help them reclaim their rights to the property.
They expressed hope that justice would prevail and that their late father’s legacy would be protected.
