PSC, NPF Set Up Joint Committee To Begin Recruitment Of Police Personnel After Tinubu’s Directive

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have constituted a joint ad-hoc committee to commence the recruitment of 30,000 police personnel as directed by President Bola Tinubu.

A statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Chairman, Nigeria Police Force Matters Committee of the PSC, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, said the committee was inaugurated at the Commission’s headquarters in Jabi. The statement said the move was in line with the Presidential directive aimed at strengthening the numerical capacity of the police and improving national security.

It said the committee is mandated to collaborate and design a seamless, transparent and efficient process that will guide the recruitment exercise.

According to the statement, DIG (Bar) Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), who represented the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), said the collaboration between the PSC and NPF was crucial to ensuring a credible selection process based strictly on merit and established guidelines.

It said the Inspector-General of Police was represented by CP Edwin Eloho of the Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters. He reiterated the importance of the recruitment in boosting the capacity of the police to deliver effective service to Nigerians.

The statement said Eloho assured of the NPF’s full cooperation with the PSC to ensure the timely and successful execution of the assignment.
