Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim during a swift operation in Yaja Village, Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The rescue was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Brigade’s Acting Spokesperson, Lt. Umar Muhammad. He said the operation took place on December 11, 2025, after soldiers deployed at Maraba Apawa received credible intelligence on the movement of suspected kidnappers.

Acting on the tip-off, the troops launched a rapid-response pursuit, mounting pressure that forced the criminals to abandon their captive.

“The victim, identified as 40-year-old Alhaji Shuaibu from Yelwata community in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, had been abducted two days earlier on December 9, 2025,” the statement revealed.

Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for what he described as a “timely, professional, and resilient” rescue operation. He said the success further demonstrates the Brigade’s commitment to protecting communities across Taraba State.

General Uwa reiterated that the Brigade remains fully prepared to deny criminal elements any safe haven, warning that kidnapping, banditry, and all forms of violent crime will continue to attract swift and decisive military action.

He assured residents of a peaceful and secure festive season and urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to aid ongoing security operations.

The Nigerian Army, through General Uwa, also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of local communities and reaffirmed its resolve to maintain peace and stability throughout Taraba State.
