Inuwa Yahaya Praises Tinubu Over Gombe Son’s NMDPRA Nomination

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The governor described the nomination of the Gombe-born energy expert as well-considered and reassuring, saying it reflects the President’s determination to entrust key national institutions to professionals with proven competence, experience and integrity.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said Engr. Mohammed is a thoroughbred professional whose career in the oil and gas industry has been marked by discipline, depth and outstanding performance.

He noted that the nominee brings close to 40 years of experience to the position, with particular expertise in natural gas development, commercialisation and infrastructure delivery.

The governor expressed confidence that Engr. Mohammed’s calm leadership style, industry knowledge and broad experience would further strengthen the NMDPRA and support the effective implementation of President Tinubu’s reform agenda in the midstream and downstream petroleum sectors.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya also thanked President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in a son of Gombe State and wished Engr. Mohammed success as he prepares to assume the national responsibility.

Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed is a seasoned energy professional who played a key role in Nigeria’s gas expansion and reform efforts during his tenure as Group Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Gas and Power, at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He was involved in the development of major policies such as the Gas Masterplan, Gas Network Code and the Petroleum Industry Act, and contributed to landmark projects including the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline Expansion, the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline and Nigeria LNG.

Engr. Mohammed has also represented Nigeria in several international engagements, led key energy institutions, and holds strong professional credentials as a COREN-registered engineer and Fellow of leading engineering bodies. He is a graduate of Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
