Gov Kefas Signs Taraba 2026 Budget into Law

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable development across the state.

The governor made this known on Monday after assenting to the budget, describing it as a critical instrument for driving growth and improving the welfare of the people of Taraba State.

During the budget presentation, the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, disclosed that the lawmakers increased the budget size by ₦3 billion. According to him, the upward review was aimed at funding key developmental initiatives, particularly in the education sector, supporting newly created ministries, and facilitating the construction of the Taraba State Bio-Entrepreneurship Innovation and Solutions Agency (TASBISA).

Bonzena explained that the additional funds would help strengthen human capital development, enhance institutional capacity and promote innovation and entrepreneurship within the state.

Governor Kefas noted that the passage and signing of the budget signal Taraba State’s steady path towards recovery and accelerated development, expressing optimism that the new fiscal year holds great promise for the people.

He assured residents that his administration would continue to ensure prudent and efficient utilisation of available resources to improve livelihoods and deliver meaningful dividends of democracy across the state.
The signing of the 2026 budget marks another milestone in the state government’s efforts to reposition Taraba for inclusive growth and long-term prosperity.
