Inuwa Yahaya Approves Dedicated Power for Mother, Child Hospital

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the extension of a dedicated 11KVA power line and the installation of a 200KVA transformer at the Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Mother and Child Specialist Hospital, Mallam Inna, Gombe, to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply at the facility.

The intervention, approved on Thursday, January 22, 2026, is expected to significantly improve power availability at the specialist hospital, which provides critical maternal and child healthcare services to residents of Gombe State and neighbouring communities.

Following the governor’s approval, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Sanusi Ahmed Pindiga, alongside the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, and the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Dr. Yusuf Abdullahi, conducted a joint inspection of the facility to assess the progress of work on the project.

The inspection team expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, confirming that the dedicated power line has been successfully extended, while installation of the 200KVA transformer has reached over 95 per cent completion.

During the visit, the contractor handling the project assured the team that all outstanding requirements would be completed promptly, including obtaining certification from the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and approval from the Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) Plc, ahead of the planned energisation of the transformer next week.

The project is part of the Inuwa Yahaya administration’s broader efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve service delivery across the state.
