Mahmud challenges Borno youths to drive massive APC e-registration

The Borno State Director of the City Boy Movement and Personal Assistant to the President on Domestic Affairs (Northeast), Office of the Vice President, Comrade Mohammed Mahmud, has challenged youths across Borno State to mobilise massive numbers of members for the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) e-registration exercise.

Mahmud made the call on Thursday in Maiduguri during a sensitisation meeting with various youth groups and APC loyalists, themed “Building a Stronger APC Through Digital Membership and Inclusive Participation.”

He said the e-registration exercise represents a democratic revolution that places political power directly in the hands of young Nigerians determined to shape their future through active participation.

According to him, the City Boy Movement, under the leadership of aides and supporters of Vice President Kashim Shettima, has consistently projected the progressive and reform-driven face of Nigerian youths committed to good governance.

“Today, we are ensuring that our voices are not only heard but counted. The Nigeria being built under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Governor Babagana Umara Zulum is one defined by courage, reform and results,” Mahmud said.

He cited recent economic indicators as evidence of the impact of the Federal Government’s reforms, noting that the World Bank had upgraded Nigeria’s growth forecast to 4.4 per cent in January 2026, above the global average.

Mahmud also referenced improvements in foreign exchange reserves, increased market confidence and declining inflation, stressing that the gains were products of deliberate policy choices under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He added that the presence of Vice President Shettima in office has brought renewed attention and opportunities to the North-East, pointing to interventions by the North East Development Commission, education financing through NELFUND, and improved security that made recent local government elections in Borno possible.

On the APC e-registration, Mahmud said the digital system would strengthen internal democracy by eliminating ghost members and manipulation associated with manual registration.

“The requirements are simple — your NIN and voter’s card. This process empowers youths, promotes transparency and prepares the party ahead of 2027. Democracy is not a spectator sport,” he said.

He urged youths to not only register but also mobilise friends, colleagues and classmates to ensure wide participation, describing the exercise as a test of organisational capacity ahead of future elections.

The event was attended by several stakeholders, including the General Manager of RUWASSA, Engr. Muhammad Musa Aliyu; Chairmen of Kaga and Guzamala local government areas, Hon. Zannah Lawn Ajimi and Hon. Umar Lawan Sheriff; Senior Special Assistants to Governor Zulum, Hon. Dogo M. Shettima and Hon. Baby Abba Gumsu, as well as board members of the Borno State Housing Corporation, among others.
