The Gombe State Government says it has grown its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from ₦6.8 billion in 2019 to over ₦40.8 billion in 2025 under the administration of Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The Chairman of the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS), Mrs Aisha Adamu, disclosed this while reviewing the state’s revenue performance for the 2025 fiscal year.
Adamu said the ₦40.8 billion generated in 2025 almost doubled the ₦20.7 billion realised in 2024 and exceeded the 2025 revenue target of about ₦25.7 billion by 158 per cent.
According to her, the steady growth reflects sustained reforms introduced by the Inuwa Yahaya administration since assuming office in 2019.
She noted that revenue performance became more pronounced from 2023, when collections rose from ₦15.18 billion to ₦20.72 billion in 2024, before climbing to over ₦40 billion in 2025.
Adamu attributed the increase to improved revenue collection systems, expanded tax base and enhanced taxpayer compliance across the state.
She commended Gov. Inuwa Yahaya for prioritising fiscal discipline and providing consistent support to the revenue service to effectively discharge its mandate.
The GIRS chairman said the improved revenue profile would enable the state government to fund critical development projects, improve public service delivery and expand social infrastructure.
She assured that the revenue service would sustain the gains recorded and intensify efforts to further boost revenue generation in 2026.
