Fintiri Upgrades Mayo-Belwa Hospital, Commissions Projects

Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa has pledged to upgrade the Mayo-Belwa Cottage Hospital to a General Hospital as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

Fintiri made the pledge on Thursday during a working visit to Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, where he inspected the health facility and engaged community stakeholders on development priorities.

The governor said the planned upgrade would expand services at the hospital and improve access to quality healthcare for residents of Mayo-Belwa and surrounding communities.

During the visit, Fintiri also commissioned key projects, including a newly constructed international cattle market, aimed at boosting local commerce and supporting livestock trade in the area.

The visit forms part of the governor’s ongoing statewide tour of the 21 local government areas to assess development needs, interact with stakeholders and commission completed infrastructure projects.

The Chairman of Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, Hon. Umar Nation Gubi, alongside the Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, Hon. Hammajumba Gatugel, and the member representing Mayo-Belwa in the Adamawa House of Assembly, Hon. Musa Kallamu, commended the governor’s focus on upgrading and delivering impactful projects.

They noted that the improved infrastructure had enhanced community confidence and contributed to economic and social development in the area.

Fintiri was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Auwal Tukur; Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Edgar Amos; commissioners, advisers and other top government officials.

Cultural performances by dancers from various ethnic groups in the local government area added colour to the event.
