Maiduguri Remains in Darkness as Power Outage Enters Third Day

Residents of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, have been without electricity for over two days due to a transmission fault and ongoing maintenance at the state’s gas power plant.

A source, who spoke with our reporter on condition of anonymity, said the outage was traced to a faulty transmission tower along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway.

Despite the availability of a local gas power plant, electricity supply has yet to be restored because the plant is currently under maintenance. The source added that power is expected to return once the repair and maintenance works are completed.

Residents have expressed frustration over the prolonged blackout, which has disrupted daily activities and business operations across the city.

Authorities have urged patience, assuring that restoration efforts are actively ongoing.
