
The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped teenagers unhurt and arrested one suspected kidnapper during a coordinated operation in Song Local Government Area.
The victims were abducted at Gwewan Village, Dumne in Song LGA before security operatives launched a joint operation that led to their rescue.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the operation followed the strategic deployment of combined security assets by the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris.
The statement said a joint team of police operatives and members of local security outfits carried out a coordinated raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Suktu Mountain on Feb. 11.
“On sighting the security team, the suspected kidnappers engaged the operatives in a gun duel but were forced to flee with possible gunshot injuries,” the statement said.
It added that the fleeing suspects abandoned the two victims, identified as Rabe Mamman Sani, 18, and Aminu Mamman Sani, 16, who were rescued unhurt.
During the operation, one suspect, Sanda Bello, 22, of Salasa Village, Dumne in Song LGA, was arrested. Police said the suspect had confessed to his involvement in the crime.
The rescued victims were taken to hospital for medical examination, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.
The command said its Anti-Kidnapping Unit had been directed to conduct a discreet investigation into the incident.
The commissioner of police commended the gallantry and synergy between the police and local security actors, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He urged members of the public to report suspicious persons, especially those with gunshot wounds, to the nearest security agency.
