A police sergeant, Linus Wadzani, has shot his father, Wadzani Natsiri, to death in Maiduguri, Borno State. The incident occurred on Sunday at the family’s residence in the Tudu area of Maduganari community, behind the Borno State Police Command headquarters.
According to the police spokesman, Kenneth Daso, the sergeant was under the influence of alcohol and hard substances when he shot his father multiple times with an AK-47 rifle. The deceased, a retired assistant superintendent of police, was shot at around 4:30 pm after a heated argument with his son.
Daso revealed that a police patrol team responded to a distress call and calmed the situation. Upon interrogation, Sergeant Linus confessed to being under the influence of substances. A forensic team has been assembled, and blood samples have been collected to determine his mental status.
The Borno State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the homicide. Sergeant Linus is a Mobile Police personnel with Mopol 6, Maiduguri, and serves as a security detail at the Borno State House of Assembly.
