Twenty medical and dental students of the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, abducted on August 16, have regained freedom.
The students were released on Friday, eight days after their abduction by armed men who ambushed their vehicles around Otukpo area of Benue State.
Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the release in a statement, saying no ransom was paid.
Adejobi commended security agencies, locals, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for their commitment and resilience in securing the students’ release.
The students were rescued tactically and professionally in Ntunkon forest, Benue State.
This is sincerely a commendable gesture and show sign of seriousness on the part of the security agents who worked for the release of the students. I commend them highly.
