Adamawa State Government has commenced the fumigation of residential areas and culverts across the state capital as part of monthly sanitation exercise.
The fumigation, which is conducted by Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and supervised by Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources Development, Sadiq Mohammed, aims to curb the outbreak of cholera to prevent further spread.
During the sanitation exercise, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, led government officials and a Task Force in monitoring and enforcing the sanitation exercise.
He expressed regret over the recent cholera outbreak that has claimed lives, emphasising that many diseases stem from unclean environments.
Dr. Pella highlighted that the September sanitation exercise is dedicated to combating cholera, hence the fumigation efforts and warned that government will not tolerate anyone hindering its mission to restore cleanliness and dignity to the state.
He noted that sanitation exercises are essential for maintaining public health and preventing disease as well as help ensure clean water supply, proper waste management, and hygienic living conditions.
Dr. Garba commended the level of compliance and urged everyone to participate more actively in the sanitation exercise for a cleaner Adamawa.
