Adamawa Police Arrest 22-Year-Old Islamic Teacher for Alleged Defilement of Two Pupils

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 22 year- old Islamic Teacher and an Imam, Malam Idris Abubakar, for allegedly defiling 2 pupils.

Mallam Idris who lives at Unguwan Gaya in Mubi South LGA, allegedly, had sexual intercourse with his 11 and 12 years old victims (Almajiri) through their anus.

The pupils who also hail from the community are being taught islamic knowledge by the suspect in the community.

While narrating their ordeal to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, one of the victims who is 12 years old ( names withheld) said that the suspect who happens to be their teacher used to ask him and the 11 years old to work for him after closing hours.

“He normally delayed us after closing hours and engaged us in domestic activities like sweeping and washing of plates during which he takes advantage of us.”

Also speaking, the mother of the 12 year old victim  (names withheld) told the PPRO that her son used to complain of stomach ache and at the same time purging.

She said that it was the complaint made by  her son that prompted her to investigate the issue, saying that initially the boy refused to tell her the truth until  she had threatened that she will take him to the police if he will not tell her what is happening.

She disclosed that that was when the boy opened up and narrated what has been going on between him and the Mallam on condition that she should not tell anybody because the Mallam threatened their lives if the dare reveal it.

During interrogation, the suspect on his part told SP Nguroje that he is an Islamic Teacher and at the same time an Imam.

He denied the allegation levelled against him by the complainant and the victims, saying that the allegation is not true.

He admitted that he used to ask the boys to work for him after closing but that he did not defile them.

After interrogation, the Police Public Police Relations Officer said that the Commissioner of Police had ordered that the suspect be investigated and charge to court for prosecution.
