Gombe Gets Three Hilux Vehicles, 22 Motorcycles From Global Fund

Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, on Tuesday commissioned three Hilux vehicles and 22 motorcycles donated by Global Fund to fight malaria, tuberculosis, and improve primary healthcare delivery in the state.

Jatau, who is also Chairman, State Task Force on Immunisation and Primary Health Care, commended Global Fund for the donation and urged members of the task force to redouble their efforts.

“The state is doing well in healthcare and will continue to do so, as health is critical to the development of every sector,” he said.

The deputy governor expressed concern over the state’s performance in antenatal and nutrition, urging the task force to correct the lapses.

Earlier, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, and Executive Secretary, Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Abdulrahaman Shuaibu, delivered opening remarks and welcome addresses respectively.

Goodwill messages were received from National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Nigeria Governor’s Forum, and World Health Organisation.

The meeting resolved to provide life jackets for immunisation teams in riverine areas, advocate for more electric units for the state medical central store, and explore alternative power sources.
