Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NigComSat) to connect the state to the changing times.
He made this known during a courtesy visit by NigComSat’s Managing Director, Engr. Nkechi Jane Egerton, at the Government House on Tuesday in Yola.
The governor reiterated his willingness to partner with the agency to provide needed services to the people within available resources.
He called for the inclusion of some local governments in Adamawa in the areas to be covered soon in broadband connectivity, considering the security challenges they have faced due to Boko Haram insurgency.
Engr. Egerton applauded the governor for raising the bar for the state to become one of the developed states in the country.
She highlighted NigComSat’s various programs, including the 774 program aimed at providing broadband connectivity to all local governments in the country.
Noting that only 17 out of 54 African countries have large satellites, she emphasized Nigeria’s determination to achieve 75% broadband connectivity.
