The Adamawa Police Command has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the parents or relatives of a baby girl abandoned at a hotel in the Demsa Local Government Area of the state.
Insight Northeast gathered that the baby was left at the reception of Peoples Hotel in Nasarawa Demsa by a woman who claimed she was going to buy food for her child but failed to return.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa Police Command, confirmed the incident in Yola on Wednesday.
Nguroje said the police were alerted by hotel staff after waiting in vain for the return of the mother.
“The baby is currently in our custody, and we are doing everything possible to trace the mother or any relative,” he said.
He called on members of the public with useful information that could assist in the investigation to contact the police on 08065604764.
Nguroje emphasized the need for community cooperation to address issues of child abandonment and ensure the welfare of vulnerable children.
