Bauchi Community’s Only Primary School Razed by Irate Youths

Unidentified youths have razed the only primary school in Kandahar, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis, leaving hundreds of children without access to education ahead of the 2025 academic session.

The incident occurred on Friday following a yet-to-be-clarified altercation among local residents. Efforts by the community to put out the flames were unsuccessful, resulting in the total destruction of the school building.

Residents expressed sadness and frustration, noting that the school served as the sole educational facility for children in the area. Many parents are now concerned about the immediate future of their children’s education.

Reacting to the incident, the Bauchi State Government strongly condemned the act, describing it as a “barbaric assault on education.”

Adamu Muhammad Duguri, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), assured that the government would investigate the incident thoroughly. He vowed that those responsible would face the full wrath of the law.

“This is a setback to the government’s efforts to improve education in the state. We urge residents to cooperate with authorities to ensure that schools remain safe and protected,” Duguri said.

The government reiterated its commitment to rebuilding and renovating schools across the state, promising swift action to restore the Kandahar school and ensure that affected children can resume their education without further delay.
