Borno Senator Engages Army on Security, Donates Bulls for Christmas

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has reiterated his commitment to tackling insecurity in the region. In a strategic move, Ndume held a closed-door meeting with Major General Waidi Shaibu, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, at the Maimalari Military Cantonment in Maiduguri.

The meeting, which lasted over an hour, centered on security challenges along the Biu-Maiduguri road and insurgent activities in the Mandara Mountains, Gwoza Local Government Area. Though the details of their discussions remain confidential, it is believed the senator sought stronger military collaboration to enhance security in the area.

Ndume, a former chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, has been a vocal advocate for improved security in Borno South. Welcoming the senator, Major General Shaibu commended his decade-long support for the Nigerian Army, particularly during festive seasons.

“Distinguished Senator, welcome home. Though I recently assumed this command, your contributions to the military are well-documented. Your support has consistently boosted the morale of troops,” the commander said.

In a separate development, Ndume donated 25 bulls to military formations across Borno South to celebrate Christmas. The senator said the gesture was to appreciate the sacrifices of the troops in maintaining peace during the festive season.

“Their sacrifices cannot be overstated, especially at a time when most people are with their families. This is a token of our gratitude,” Ndume stated.

He was accompanied by associates, including Alhaji Mohammed Shettima, Alhaji Adamu Timta, and his aide, Junaid Jibril Maiva. The donation has been widely praised as a morale booster for the soldiers on duty.
