Borno Scholarship Board Announces Opportunities for International Master’s, Teachers Trainig

The Borno State Scholarship Board on Tuesday announced two scholarship opportunities aimed at improving the academic and professional capacities of qualified teachers and graduates in the state.

1. MEXT Teachers’ Training Scholarship

The board, in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria, invites eligible Borno State teachers to apply for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Teachers’ Training Scholarship. The program provides teachers with the chance to further their education in Japan.

According to the board, applications must be submitted by post or in person to the Embassy of Japan, located at No. 9 Bobo Street, Off Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja, no later than 12:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025.

2. NNPC/TotalEnergies International Master’s Scholarship

Similarly, the board announced the 2025/2026 NNPC Ltd/TotalEnergies International Master’s Degree Scholarship for qualified Borno State graduates.

To qualify, applicants must:

Hold a minimum of a Second Class Upper (2:1) university degree obtained no earlier than five years ago.

Have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.


The board noted that applications are to be submitted online via the TotalEnergies website at https://corporate.totalenergies.ng.

It stressed that only applications submitted through the official scholarship portal would be considered. Applicants must also ensure that all required documents are uploaded during the application process.

The deadline for the submission of applications is Jan. 31, 2025.

The board called on eligible residents to take advantage of these opportunities and contribute to the development of the state.
