Saudi Humanitarian Aid Reaches 2,450 IDP Households in Adamawa

The Adamawa Government, in collaboration with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), on Wednesday distributed food items to 2,450 households in Damare Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp, Girei Local Government Area.

The initiative, aimed at providing relief to victims of armed banditry and other humanitarian crises, is part of ongoing efforts to complement the Federal Government’s interventions through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by the Commissioner for Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Humanitarian Services, Barr. Bello Hamman Diram, commended KSrelief for its generosity, describing the donation as a boost to the state’s recovery and development agenda.

Fintiri expressed gratitude to the government and people of Saudi Arabia for their timely intervention, noting that the support came at a critical time when many citizens were grappling with conflict and displacement.

“This gesture of solidarity not only strengthens the bond of friendship between our two nations but also reflects our shared values of compassion and humanity,” he said.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to durable solutions for IDPs, highlighting the State Action Plan, which outlines strategies to address shelter, healthcare, education, livelihood opportunities, and logistics support.

Speaking at the flag-off, NEMA Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by Mr. Onibode A. Bandele, Director of Planning, Research, and Forecasting, lauded Saudi Arabia’s continued humanitarian assistance to Nigeria.

Bandele noted that the food distribution would significantly impact thousands of vulnerable individuals, aligning with the commitment of both nations to humanitarian aid.

The food assistance targeted IDPs, orphans, widows, the elderly, and other at-risk individuals in the state.

The event was attended by senior government officials, representatives of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), NEMA, and other stakeholders.
