The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has supported 389 artisans, including youths, women, and persons with special needs, with starter packs and financial aid to boost their businesses in Adamawa State.
The Acting State Coordinator of NDE in Adamawa, Mr. Nuhu Bello, disclosed this during the resettlement ceremony for trained beneficiaries under the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative in Yola on Wednesday.
Bello noted that a total of 1,889 individuals had been trained and certified in various skills acquisition programs. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the knowledge gained to create more job opportunities within communities.
“The core mandate of this initiative is to strengthen job creation and promote self-reliance among youths and women to enhance employment opportunities,” Bello stated.
He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the resources provided and commended the efforts of master trainers who contributed to the program’s success.
In his remarks, the Director-General of NDE, His Excellency Silas Agara, revealed that the Directorate had successfully trained 33,692 unemployed Nigerians, including women and persons with disabilities, in various vocational skills.
Agara, who was represented by Mr. Ibrahim Abali from NDE’s Procurement Department in Abuja, said the training covered entrepreneurship and business management, agricultural skills, and public works activities across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He further announced that 5,532 beneficiaries nationwide would receive loans and starter packs to establish their businesses.
“This employment initiative is built on three core pillars: skills development, resettlement, and job creation. It was launched on December 6, 2024, while training commenced on December 9, 2024,” Agara said.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Helen Jonah expressed gratitude to NDE and the Renewed Hope Initiative for their support. She assured that the beneficiaries would put the starter packs and funds to proper use in line with NDE’s guidelines.
