Stakeholders and political interest groups under the aegis of the Bauchi South Concern Citizens Movement have called for the governorship seat of Bauchi State to shift to the northern zone ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, which operates within the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the demand during a consultative meeting held in Bauchi on Monday.
Speaking at the event, APC chieftain and elder statesman, Abdullahi Usman Matori, emphasized the need for equity and balance in the state’s political structure, noting that Bauchi South has consistently produced governors since 1999.
“It is time for the narrative to change,” Matori said. “For political fairness and inclusivity, the next Governor of the State should come from another zone, particularly the Bauchi North Zone. The seat is not meant for Bauchi South alone.”
He urged the APC to engage widely with other relevant stakeholders across the state to ensure a smooth power shift that reflects justice, unity, and true representation.
