Breaking: Bauchi Governor Defects to APM, Dumps PDP

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Mohammed announced his defection on Saturday at the Government House, Bauchi, in the presence of the APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, and key political stakeholders.

The governor said the decision followed an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held behind closed doors, adding that several PDP members loyal to the Tanimu Turaki-led executives had also joined him in the move.

Until his defection, Mohammed served as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, a position that placed him among the party’s top-ranking leaders.

Political observers say the development may alter the balance of power within Bauchi State and have wider implications for opposition politics ahead of future elections.

Details of the meeting and the full list of defectors were not immediately disclosed as of the time of filing this report.

More details later.
