
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has approved the release of N872.3 million as counterpart funding for the state’s Primary Healthcare Basket Fund, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to strengthening health services across the state.
The announcement was made by Deputy Governor Mohammed Auwal Jatau during a State Task Force meeting on Primary Healthcare held in Bauchi. He disclosed that over N261 million has already been disbursed to support the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
Jatau said the fund would enhance healthcare infrastructure, boost service delivery, and improve welfare for frontline health workers, especially in rural communities.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of previous health plans and discussed updates on the 2025 operational strategy, including preparations for the April edition of the National Immunization Plus Days campaign.
Commending health workers and volunteers for their unwavering commitment, the deputy governor presented awards to individuals and healthcare centres for outstanding contributions to the state’s health sector.
He assured continued investment in health, particularly for women and children, as part of efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage in the state.
Jatau also acknowledged the support of development partners and called for stronger collaboration to drive sustainable improvements in the sector.
The Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, who co-chairs the task force, praised the achievements recorded so far in primary healthcare delivery and urged for sustained momentum.
