Adamawa Police Arrest 148 Suspects, Recover Arms and Ammunition

The Adamawa Police Command has arrested 148 suspects for alleged involvement in kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, rape and other offences.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dankombo Morris, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing newsmen in Yola.

Morris said the arrests followed enhanced operational and intelligence strategies put in place by the Command, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Kayode Egbetokun.

He said the strategic operations also led to the recovery of arms, ammunition and stolen vehicles, as well as the rescue of kidnapped victims.

According to him, the items recovered include 11 AK-47 rifles, 20 locally fabricated assault rifles, 110 live rounds of ammunition, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and three stolen vehicles.

He said the IEDs were planted by suspected Boko Haram members in some communities within Hong Local Government Area and were successfully detonated.

The commissioner also disclosed that six kidnapped victims were rescued in joint operations with other security agencies.

He commended the operatives for their bravery and assured the public that the Command would continue to strengthen security across the state.

Morris urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the police.
