Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has donated 300 Saudi Riyals (approximately N124,000) to each of the over 2,000 pilgrims from the state currently performing the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
Mohammed made the announcement during a visit to the Bauchi pilgrims’ camp in Mina, where he interacted with the faithful and checked on their welfare.
“I know you have endured a lot over the past few days while performing the Hajj rites, so I am donating 300 Riyals to each of you,” he told the pilgrims.
The governor urged the pilgrims to pray fervently for Nigeria, particularly for peace, good governance, and sincerity among political leaders.
“We urge you to pray for our country and for peace to reign. Pray against deceitful politics and for sincerity in leadership,” he said.
He lauded the Saudi authorities for their effective organisation of the Hajj, describing it as a demonstration of how good governance can positively impact national affairs.
“Saudi Arabia has demonstrated what good governance can achieve by organizing a successful Hajj. We believe Nigeria can reach such heights. We are doing our best to deliver good governance and hope to do more,” the governor said.
Mohammed also solicited prayers for Bauchi State, especially on issues of security and peaceful coexistence.
He commended the state officials handling the Hajj operations for ensuring a smooth and successful pilgrimage, and praised the pilgrims for their discipline and orderly conduct.
The governor also expressed his condolences over the death of a pilgrim from Ganjuwa Local Government Area, who passed away on the Day of Arafah.
