The Federal Government, through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), has rolled out the Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS) for Micro Enterprises to support nano businesses across the country.
The scheme, which is part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen the informal sector and tackle unemployment, offers a ₦50,000 grant to qualifying micro enterprises operating at the local government level.
According to SMEDAN, the CGS is designed to provide financial support under specific conditions to stimulate business growth and workforce expansion in the nano enterprise category.
Under the scheme, each participating business is required to employ at least one additional person, a condition tied to receiving the grant. This approach aims to encourage grassroots job creation and reduce dependency on government jobs.
“The CGS initiative is focused on workforce support and equipment procurement for small-scale entrepreneurs, especially in underserved communities,” SMEDAN stated in an official release.
Eligible applicants are encouraged to register via the official SMEDAN portal at https://smedan.gov.ng under the CGS or https://smedan.gov.ng/our-programs/cgs/?sfnsn=scwspwa to benefit from the scheme.
The agency said it remains committed to empowering the nation’s micro enterprises to thrive, with the vision of transforming them into strong pillars of Nigeria’s economy.
