Governor Bala, PDP Leaders Meet INEC Over Party Challenges

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, who is also the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, on Tuesday joined other prominent leaders of the party at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja for a crucial meeting aimed at addressing internal party challenges.

The high-level delegation was led by the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum, and included several governors and key stakeholders.

Among those present were Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, as well as former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, and Senator Abba Moro, among others.

The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to engage electoral authorities on matters affecting the party’s internal structure, electoral processes, and preparations ahead of future elections.

While details of the closed-door meeting are still emerging, party insiders said the discussions centred on electoral reforms, party unity, and strategic collaboration with INEC to ensure a level playing field in upcoming elections.

The meeting reflects growing concerns within the PDP over internal cohesion and the need for credible electoral processes, as the party seeks to reposition itself amid Nigeria’s dynamic political landscape.
