Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has commended the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives direct primaries across the state.
Yahaya gave the commendation on Saturday after participating in the exercise at Jekadafari Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the turnout of party members and the orderly conduct of the primaries statewide.
He praised the election management committee and party stakeholders for ensuring a transparent and credible process.
“We are one big family, and there is no victor, no vanquished.
“As far as I am concerned, they are all APC members and I urge everyone to cooperate and unite for the success of our great party in the forthcoming general elections,” he said.
Yahaya stressed the need for collective commitment toward sustaining the developmental strides of the APC administration in the state.
“We will continue to work together to deliver on the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Gombe State,” he added.
He also lauded party members for embracing democratic values peacefully, describing the conduct of the primaries as a positive sign for the future of the party and the state.
Also speaking, Chairman of the APC National Primary Election Committee for Gombe State, Alhaji Labiru Musa Kafur, commended the state chapter of the party for strengthening internal democracy.
Kafur said the committee was satisfied with the peaceful and transparent conduct of the exercise.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and independent observers monitored the primaries.
For the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat, Hon. Sadam Bello and Alhaji Zakariyya Jidda were represented by their agents during the exercise.
The presiding officer, Alhaji Yahaya Ibrahim Makeri, later declared Sadam Bello winner in Jekadafari Ward after conducting a headcount.
Similar peaceful conduct was observed in other wards across the state.
