Two individuals, identified as Mr. Patrick Paul and Habu Ibrahim, have been arrested for vandalizing the Numan 33KVA Feeder line, which has left parts of Adamawa State without electricity for over a month.
The power line, which supplies electricity from Mayo Belwa to Numan and surrounding areas, had been out of service following strong winds that damaged its poles and wires. The prolonged outage plunged many communities into darkness.
According to reports, the delayed repairs by the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) created an opportunity for vandals to target the line.
The suspects, who are reportedly licensed members of the Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN), were caught while attempting to cut and remove electrical cables from the damaged line.
Their arrest has raised concerns over the vulnerability of critical infrastructure, particularly in areas already facing service disruptions.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged accordingly.
