Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has received the report of the Visitation Panel constituted to review the operations of Sa’adu Zungur State University, Gadau.
The panel, chaired by Prof. Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, was inaugurated in January 2025 by the governor to investigate challenges affecting the university.
Its terms of reference included probing the causes of the recent strike by staff, reviewing financial operations, assessing academic programmes and research activities, and evaluating the institution’s quality assurance mechanisms.
It also examined the state of infrastructure, facilities, and other resources vital to effective teaching, learning, and research.
During its assignment, the panel received 47 memoranda and engaged extensively with the university’s management, staff unions, students, and other stakeholders.
The panel, in its report, commended Gov. Mohammed for initiating the visitation, the first since the university’s establishment 12 years ago.
It presented wide-ranging recommendations geared towards promoting industrial harmony, enhancing institutional governance, strengthening financial accountability, and advancing academic standards.
Receiving the report, Gov. Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to revamp the education sector, with particular focus on the state-owned university.
He lauded the panel for its thorough work and pledged to study and implement its recommendations to reposition the institution for improved performance.
