Gov. Agbu Signs Bill Establishing Taraba University of Tropical Agriculture and Climate Action

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Monday signed into law the bill establishing the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture and Climate Action, to be sited in Gembu, Sardauna Local Government Area of the state.

The bill was signed during a ceremony held at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

According to the governor, the new university will harness the rich natural resources and agricultural potential of the Mambilla Plateau, while also fostering cross-border collaboration with the Republic of Cameroon.

“This institution is a strategic investment in our future. It will not only promote research in agriculture and climate issues but also strengthen our bilateral relationship with Cameroon and enhance economic and academic activities on the Mambilla Plateau,” Kefas said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to educational advancement, noting that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve the well-being of Taraba residents and accelerate development in the region.

“Our commitment to education is unwavering, and we will continue to do our best to improve the total well-being of our people,” the governor added.

The establishment of the university is expected to create opportunities for scientific innovation, regional development, and climate resilience in Taraba State and beyond.
