A 17-year-old Nigerian student, Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, has emerged winner of the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in English Language held in London, United Kingdom.
Nafisa, a student of Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Yobe State, beat over 20,000 students from 69 countries, including native English-speaking nations, to clinch the coveted title.
The annual global championship, which assesses participants’ proficiency in English grammar, writing, and communication, saw contestants from across continents compete in various categories.
Reacting to the development, the Aminu family described the feat as a product of “dedication, discipline and the enabling support of the Yobe State Government.”
In a statement issued in Abuja by the head of the family, Hassan Salifu, the family commended Governor Mai Mala Buni’s investment in education, which they said played a significant role in Nafisa’s achievement.
“Our daughter’s global success would not have been possible without the visionary support for education by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose efforts have brought international honour to our state and nation,” the statement read.
The family also expressed gratitude to the management and staff of NTIC for maintaining high academic standards and nurturing students to excel on international platforms.
They called on both federal and state governments to formally recognise Nafisa’s achievement, noting that it serves as evidence of Nigerian students’ ability to thrive globally when given the right opportunities.
Nafisa’s triumph has sparked celebration across Nigeria, with many describing her win as an inspiration to other young learners across the country.
