
The Adamawa Police Command, in collaboration with professional hunters, has rescued a kidnapped victim during a joint operation in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Yola.
Nguroje said the operation was carried out on Aug. 25 by operatives attached to the Gombi Divisional Police Headquarters with the support of professional hunters in the area.
He explained that the team stormed a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in the mountainous area of Gombi following credible intelligence.
“On sighting the team, the kidnappers opened fire which led to a gun duel. Sensing the superior firepower of the police, the suspects fled, abandoning their victim, Isah Adamu, 28, a resident of Gurin town in Fufore Local Government Area,” Nguroje said.
He added that the victim was rescued unharmed.
The police spokesman quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dankombo Morris, as commending the officers involved in the operation for their gallantry.
According to him, the commissioner has directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command to take over the case and ensure discreet investigation with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects.
Nguroje reiterated the command’s commitment to the safety and security of all residents of the state.
