The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (AC OPHK), in a joint operation with ground troops, has neutralised more than 30 terrorists in Dar Jamel, Bama Local Government Area of Borno.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
Ejodame said the operation was conducted on Sept. 5, following reports of heavy terrorist engagement against friendly forces in the area.
He said the Air Component swiftly deployed an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft and an Air Interdiction (AI) mission to the location.
“On arrival at Dar Jamel, the aircrew identified friendly forces before ISR scans revealed terrorists fleeing northwards from the town towards nearby bushes.
“In a series of three precise and successive strikes, the fleeing terrorists were decisively engaged, resulting in the neutralisation of over 30 insurgents.
“Shortly afterwards, reinforcement troops arrived at the location, secured the area, and stabilised the situation,” he said.
Ejodame added that the coordinated success underscored the synergy between air and ground forces in the ongoing counterterrorism operations.
He reiterated the resolve of the Armed Forces to dismantle terrorist networks, protect vulnerable communities, and restore peace in the North-East and other parts of the country.
