The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) Governing Council has on Wednesday approved the appointment of two new Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
They are Prof. Babagana Bako of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, who has been appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration), and Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Waziri of the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Theriogenology, who has been appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services).
According to a statement by the institution’s management, the appointments followed the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor and the approval of the University Senate.
The letter of appointment was conveyed by the Registrar, Ahmed Alhaji Lawan, and is in line with Section 4(1)–4(5) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree No. 11 of 1993.
The statement said both appointees would serve a tenure of two years, effective from Sept. 18, 2025.
