The Adamawa State Government has approved the sale of 1,000 housing units to civil servants at the State Housing Estate, Malkohi, in Yola South Local Government Area.
The initiative, aimed at addressing the housing needs of workers, was revived under the administration of Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri after years of delay caused by inflation and economic challenges.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday in Yola, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Prambe, who also chairs the project committee, said the units would be sold at ₦9.7 million for two-bedroom flats and ₦11.7 million for three-bedroom flats.
Prambe assured that offer letters would be distributed to beneficiaries soon, following the governor’s directive, and emphasized the committee’s commitment to transparency in the allocation process.
He also disclosed that the governor approved additional infrastructure, including perimeter fencing, security outposts, a barracks, and modern drainage systems.
“This is a significant milestone for civil servants in Adamawa. It reflects the governor’s continued commitment to improving the welfare of workers,” Prambe said.
The Managing Director of the Adamawa State Mortgage Bank, Dauda Mohammed Galadima, stated that funding support was being sourced from the Family Homes Fund and the Federal Mortgage Bank. He noted that salary-domiciliation and flexible payment options would be provided for beneficiaries.
Also speaking, Dr. Nyalas Batholomew, representing labour unions, praised Gov. Fintiri for prioritizing affordability and ensuring that the scheme is accessible to interested workers.
“Any civil servant who can afford the scheme will have the opportunity to own a home,” he said.
