Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has backed Baba Mallam Wali as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The decision followed consultations with key stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state on Wednesday.
Sources familiar with the development said the backing came after a consensus was reached among major party figures involved in the discussions.
Wali, who currently serves as Secretary to the State Government (SSG), is a prominent member of the Buni-led administration and has played a central role in policy coordination.
The development is expected to influence early political alignments within the APC as preparations intensify toward the 2027 general elections in Yobe State.
