FG moves academic certificate verification online

The Federal Government has announced the full automation of authentication and evaluation of academic credentials, ending physical verification visits nationwide.

The development was disclosed by the Federal Ministry of Education in a statement issued on Thursday by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

According to the ministry, the new arrangement makes all applications for authentication and evaluation of academic credentials available exclusively online, in line with the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda.

It explained that the reform is aimed at improving data management, strengthening the integrity of academic records and enhancing public service delivery.

“The Federal Ministry of Education has fully automated the process for the Authentication and Evaluation of academic credentials as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, improve data management, and enhance public service delivery,” the statement said.

Under the new system, applicants are required to register and upload relevant documents through the ministry’s verification portal, while institutions are expected to forward transcripts directly from official institutional email addresses.

The ministry added that applicants would no longer be required to visit its offices for physical verification, noting that the digital transition would simplify procedures and shorten processing time.

Officials further stated that the new platform is expected to enhance the credibility and integrity of academic credential verification across the country.
